This was probably the most enjoyable trip during our entire holidays in the Alps. We walked along a deep valley, we passed by a beautiful lake, and we reached a really high peak with excellent views.

The trail we hiked among grass and flowers was wonderful.

It is interesting to note that this wide mountain (Langschneid, 2688 m)
is higher than Gerlach (2655 m), the highes peak of the Tatra Mountains,
yet it is smooth and grassy.

Pawel at the trail at ca. 2500 m. In the background:
Weisse Spitze (2962 m), Rote Spitze (2956 m).
Note the red-and-white mark of the trail on the stone.

Pawel at the peak of Grosses Degenhorn (2946 m). The panorama is breathtaking.
Note the characteristic pile of stones - similar piles are placed
along the trails to indicate the way,
especially if the color signs are covered with snow.

The picturesque lake Degenhornsee at the feet of Degenhorn,
and a view of the surrounding mountains.

Joanna at the cross at the peak of Degenhorn. In the box there was
a book of guests and a stamp.

The ridge we followed and the peak of Kleines Degenhorn (2849 m).

Joanna with the huge mountains around.

Pawel at the descent from Degenhorn with the beautiful Degenhornsee
in the background. The trail follows the right edge of the lake
and then ascends to the gap along the grassy "tongue" right above my head.

We were walking along a very deep valley (on the left)
in a very pleasant scenery.
